Each week, students learn basic cooking skills while making dinner for their family!
We use the perspective of food, cooking, and nutrition to learn about geography, math skills, science, and culture, while helping kids develop a lifelong love of fresh ingredients.
Our hands-on cooking classes are fun, delicious, healthy and are a wonderful way to develop enthusiasm for the kitchen, while practicing knife skills and kitchen safety.
Each dish feeds a family of 6 and goes home in oven-ready cookware with baking instructions. Our menu changes seasonally, you can check out the current menu here.
WHERE: No kitchen or special equipment is needed to have Rainy Day Dinner Club at your school. Many of our classes are held in the teacher/staff break rooms, art/science rooms. We bring everything we need in, including cleaning supplies. After class, we sweep and clean leaving the space exactly as we found it, just cleaner!
What we need:
WHO: 1st-5th grade
COST: $42 per class this includes all materials, ingredients, and feeds a family of 6, this does not include credit card fees for school’s preferred registration platform fees.
CLASS SIZE: Our minimum is 10 students, and our maximum is 12-14 students. Depending of the space size.
SCHOLARSHIPS: We offer 1 full or 2 half scholarships per session.
This is what one of our parents recently emailed us. "We can't thank you enough for all you have taught and shared with us during this winter cooking class at McDonald! [...] The meals definitely warmed our bellies and filled our hearts!" You can find more information on my background and mission here. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you for your time and consideration.
