Part-time After-school Program Instructor $16 - $19
Are you a high-energy, creative, home cook or baker? Do you love working with kids, and want to give back to your community? Come teach cooking classes with Rainy Day Dinner Club and share your passion for cooking with the next generation of foodies!
Since 2014, our Dinner Club has partnered with over 30 schools and community centers in Seattle and Eastside area to bring cooking classes to elementary students as an after-school enrichment program. Rainy Day Dinner Club is committed to helping our students develop a new relationship with cooking, fresh ingredients and new flavors in a realistic and attainable way while empowering families though shared meals. We just celebrated making over 10,000 family meals!
Each week, we teach 1st - 8th graders basic cooking skills while they make dinner for their family! Our hands-on cooking classes are fun, delicious, food positive, and are a wonderful way to develop enthusiasm for the family meal.
Instructors start their shift by picking up ingredients and supplies at our North Seattle/Shoreline kitchen, transporting supplies to an assigned school throughout the Greater Seattle area, and returning the supplies after class. Some additional hours may be available for going over lesson plans, packing supplies, cleaning and prep.
PAY
$16 - $19 per hour DOE.
Staff are paid for mileage based on the IRS rate when transporting supplies to and from classes.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be able to pass a Washington State school and FBI fingerprinting background checks
- Food Handler's Card (30 days of hire)
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (60 days of hire)
- Ability to lift 40lbs bins in and out of your car (cart will be provided)
- Reliable Transportation to and from schools that can safely house up to 4 large storage bins plus a hand truck.
- Provide proof of current car insurance
- A punctual and professional attitude.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD BE
- At least 2 years' experience leading mixed aged groups of 10-14 kids.
- Has a strong understanding of cooking basics and common terms like dice, mince, and saute.
- Someone loves to share his/her passion for cooking with other people and help them learn.
- Comfortable being in front of a crowd and making the group laugh and learn.
- Organized, have strong classroom management skills, and a love of teaching kids.
REQUIREMENTS
- Able to follow a lesson plan but can be creative, flexible, and quick thinking when needed.
- Enjoys a fast-paced environment with daily class goals.
- Some cooking experience would be nice but, basic cooking skills is a must!
- Have your own reliable transportation that can carry up to 4 large storage tubs and a hand truck (usually can fit in a moderate size trunk and back seat).
- Must be comfortable working with meat, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, and vegetarian products.
- A fun and positive attitude is a must as well as an ability to engage actively with kids while maintaining order in a classroom.
WE'RE CURRENTLY HIRING 2 STAFF
- Monday - Friday 25 -30 hours per week
- Shifts are between 4-6 hours long. The start and end times range between 11:30am - 7:30pm depending on the school's schedule
- Please note:
- Shift's start times vary and are based on each School location's dismissal time.
- Employees are off on School holidays/breaks, with occasional opportunities to fill in at other districts or camps. These dates can vary school to school.
