Rainy Day Dinner Club is an after-school program for elementary and middle school students in the Seattle and Greater Eastside neighborhoods. In our cooking classes, we teach students basic cooking skills while they make and bring home dinner for their families!
Our Mission is to cultivate enthusiasm for cooking and build a positive culture around family meals! We use the perspective of food, cooking, and nutrition to learn about geography, math, science, and culture, while helping kids develop a life-long love of fresh ingredients and vegetables.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, cheerful, and dependable instructor with reliable transportation to join our team in inspiring young chefs. Extensive cooking and baking experience is not required, but a passion for working with children is essential.

Shifts: We're currently hiring two part-time staff for 3 days a week. Please note that these are general estimates and the start and end times may shift an hour depending on the school schedule.
Shift A: Monday
Shift B: Wednesday - Friday
We also work within the school’s calendar and schedules change quarterly, so there are weeks of furlough around Christmas, Spring Break, etc.
Start Date: Looking for team members to start training Mid Feb 2025.
Location: Staff pick up supplies in our Queen Anne location and drive to teach classes at various schools around the Greater Seattle area.
Salary and positions at RDDC:
All teachers regardless of experience start at the training pay range.
New teachers start out training by assisting lead instructors.
Training periods range from 60 -90 days depending on experience.

- Organized with strong classroom management skills, keen attention to detail, and a love of teaching.
- Experience working with groups of 10-14 kids in mixed-grade settings (1st - 6th grade).
- Ability to follow a lesson plan but can also be creative, flexible, and quick thinking when needed.
- Enjoys a fast-paced environment with daily class goals.
- Comfortable working independently but also working well with other teachers.
- Can follow a recipe, understand measurements, and is familiar with basic cooking terminology.
- Has their own reliable vehicle capable of transporting up to 4 large storage tubs and a hand truck.
- Vegetarians and vegans welcome; however, comfort with handling cooked meats, raw eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, and vegetarian products is required.
- A fun and positive attitude and the ability to actively engage with kids are essential.
Responsibilities:
- All teachers start out with a 60-90 day training period assisting lead instructors (duration based on experience).
- Create a dynamic, fun, and engaging experience for kids and their families while maintaining the function, operation, and order of the classroom.
- Lead students safely through the week’s lesson plan.
- Set and maintain classroom expectations and provide a safe space for all students to learn.
- Pack and transport class supplies to and from the schools.
- Set up and clean classrooms before and after class.
- Engage with students in a caring and nurturing manner.
- Manage groups of school-age students (1st-6th grades).
- Sign students in and out of our program, and contact parents when someone is missing, injured, or sick.
- Wash your class dishes, put away supplies, and tidy up at our prep kitchen.

- Training or Assistant Instructors: Seattle Minimum Wage to $22.00/hour
- Lead Instructors: $24.00 to $26.00/hour
- Senior Instructors: $28.00 to $36.00/hour
Benefits
- Rainy Day Dinner Club complies with Seattle’s Paid Sick and Safe Time requirements.
- Mileage: Staff are paid their hourly wage for driving supplies to school locations. For classes located outside the city of Seattle, mileage will be reimbursed for transporting supplies to and from schools at 0.20-.25 cents per mile.
Requirements:
- Some schools require masks otherwise it is optional.
- Provide proof of covid vaccines and boosters.
- Must be able to pass a Washington State school and National background checks.
- Food Handler's Card (within 30 days of hire)
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (within 60 days of hire)
- Ability to lift three 40lbs bins in and out of your car (cart will be provided)
- Reliable transportation to and from schools that can safely hold up to 4 large storage bins plus a hand truck.
- Provide proof of current car insurance
